The Business Department is proud to announce that our Specialist High Skills Major Program is the largest in the Halton Board!  Interested grade ten students may begin the process by seeing Mrs. Vieira, Mr. Fisher in room 112 or Ms. Stecca in PCC. Express your interest for the program on 'MyBlueprint.ca'. Interviews will occur in the spring of 2018 for September entry.

A brief overview of the two-year program:

  • Students take two business courses in each of grade 11 and 12
  • Mandatory certifications will be delivered in First Aid, CPR, and WHMIS.  
  • Additional certifications will be provided in topics such as Leadership, Customer Service, and Personality Dimensions
  • A two credit co-operative education experience completed during the year or the summer
  • Participate in various reach ahead activities, Experiential Learning trips and Competitions (see below)
  • Earn an enhanced diploma when graduating

Reach Ahead Activities (minimum three required; DECA mandatory):

Pitch It Case Competition - pitch a green business idea and win prizes including cash. Python's Pit. Like Dragon's Den? This is our shot. Have a look.

DECA. Compete against other schools in various challenging contests.



RidgeBiz Networking Night, where professionals from various industries come to talk to our students about life lessons and career pathways.


OBEA Contests. Many contests run both in class and in a club environment. Must have a teacher OBEA member. No problem, we're covered.

CPA Ambassador Program. This is a big group challenge which may lead to $5000 for the school.

McMaster High School Business Heroes Competition. Involves marketing plans.

Youth Entrepreneur Programs in Halton. You have to be in Halton to compete. Includes a business plan competition and summer ventures.

Getting Smarter About Money is by InvestorEd and has three separate contests.

Make your Pitch an entrepreneurship venture by Ministry of Economic Development Trade and Employment which features a video submission.

Shebiz is for grade 11 girls only and focuses on women and business.


Camp Enterprise - unique opportunity for selected students with many others from all Halton schools.



Come to the business workroom in 112 or the library to obtain a brochure. Information nights coming soon in the winter of 2018.
